About the role

Black & White Engineering (B&W) is a leading MEP design consultancy. Launched in the UAE in 2007, we became an independent company in 2014 and are now a true global consultancy with offices in Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

Our engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.

This role is responsible for running of small projects. The successful candidate will research, develop, design, and assume responsibility for coordination and monitoring of engineering project services for mechanical installations, systems, equipment, facilities, and so on.

  • Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
  • Surveys tests and reports on existing mechanical installations
  • Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Represents the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractor teams
  • Prepares specification modifications using MS Word or Excel
  • Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Works on defined tasks under limited supervision with some autonomy
  • Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own work
  • Responsible for producing routine letters, reports, and other documents using standard templates. Responsible for the effective organisation of information and documentation, e.g. filing, QA, etc.
  • Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines
  • Has a relevant degree in Mechanical Building Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification or sufficient experience
  • Basic working knowledge of CAD functionality
  • Basic understanding of key health and safety issues and legislation
  • Knowledge in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Basic understanding of BS standards
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work on deadlines
